How contented are you with your life?
Nowadays, we are finding it harder than ever to be content with what we have. We tend to compare ourselves with others and continually come up short. We are not content with our spouse, we think our house is too small, our jobs don’t pay enough.....The result is discouragement and disappointment. As a steward of God’s resources, we are to be content without being passive. God calls us to live a life of contentment. What that means, though, is that we are to be at ease where we are and at the same time working diligently and trusting God to enable us to maximize our potential. (Proverbs 30:8, Philippians 4:11-12)
Contentment comes when we can honestly say with the apostle Paul, "I know both how to have a little, and I know how to have a lot. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being content - whether well-fed or hungry, whether in abundance or in need. I am able to do all things through Him who strengthens me" (Phil. 4:12-13). Contentment is learned.
